Development and application of mitigation and adaptation
strategies and measures for counteracting the global
Urban Heat Islands phenomenon
This project is implemented through
the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme
co-financed by the ERDF

Publications

During the project lifetime, some studies and analyses focusing on the heat island problem in urban settlements will be produced. They will be available through this web site for every interested user, especially for policy-makers, urban planners and environmental experts.

These materials are aimed at facilitating the transfer – across the Central Europe cooperation space and beyond – of the knowledge acquired during the UHI project concerning solutions for mitigation of and adaptation to heat island phenomena.

In the EU, one of the leading causes of soil degradation is waterproof, which occurs when the earth is covered with a material such as asphalt. It involves an increased risk of flooding and water scarcity, and contributes to global warming.
This manual of the European Commission seeks to disseminate the use of best practices to mitigate and tackle the phenomenon.
